Established by Governor Jack Dalrymple through Executive Order 2015-01 which establishes a coalition charged with improving collaboration and coordination on behavior health services for Service Members, Veterans, Families, and Survivors (SMVFS).  Updated December 2015 adding Director of the Fargo VA Health Care System by Executive Order 2015-05

The North Dakota Cares (ND Cares) Coalition includes a broad spectrum of more than 40 service providers and partners whose work touches the lives of Service Members, Veterans, Families, and Survivors.  Members share a common interest in strengthening an accessible network of support across the state, even though each entity retains authority over its own programs and services. The purpose of the ND Cares coalition is to resolve barriers or gaps in services, through local or statewide systematic changes, to ensure those serving, who have served, families and survivors receive the behavior health care and assistance they need. Shelly Sizer, ND Civilian Aide to the Secretary of the Army, chairs the coalition.

While ND Cares is not a provider of services; it is dedicated to improving understanding of the needs and services required by our heroes who should be able to access them close to home. The Coalition is dedicated to strengthening an accessible, seamless network of support for SMVFS.
